Living in the past and loving it

After 9

Hosted By: Allan Wishart

It all started at a small 12-page weekly newspaper in High Prairie, Alberta. I was in community newspapers for more than 20 years, finishing at the Prince George Free Press until it folded.

A few months later, CFIS station manager Reg Feyer made one of the biggest mistakes of his life when he asked if I would like to work as an on-air personality at the station. He realized quickly I had no personality, but the damage was done, and I've been here since.

As one of the hosts of the After Nine show, I love explaining to people that show is just like when I was interviewing people for the newspaper - except now I don't have to go back and write up the story after the interview.

I host Canadian Gumbo on Friday evenings, and even though gumbo isn't thought of as a Canadian food, I do my best to cook up something good each week. It's all Canadian all the time, and I don't worry too much about musical 'genres'. There are two kinds of music in the world: good music, and bad music. On Canadian Gumbo, we play the good stuff.
